[EPS12-rt] Start of the Roundtable Discussion

Dear Colleagues and Friends of Physics,

This is a forum for the Roundtable Discussion to be organized within
the 12th General Conference of the European Physical Society (EPS-12)
which will be held in Budapest, Hungary, 26-30 August 2002 with the
title "Trends in Physics" together with its electronic version
EUROTRON. The scope of the discussion is the future of scientific
research and particularly physics in Europe. The topics of the
discussion has not been further limited, any question related to
physics can be raised and may (and hopefully will) be answered by the
most qualified participant.

We are calling for questions to be asked, problems to be raised at
this forum and to be discussed on the present list beforehand. All
relevant questions and comments will appear in this Roundtable
Discussion Page linked to the Conference www-page so that lively
discussion could inform the participants of the questions raised by
quite a wide audience. We plan to web-cast (broadcast via the World
Wide Web, another by-product of contemporary physics) the whole
Roundtable Discussion session within EUROTRON for those who cannot
come personally to Budapest. We shall make it possible also for those
who follow it from outside the conference hall to send questions in
during the discussion and those chosen by the moderator will
immediately be presented to the discussion leader. After the
conference the session will be fully archived in the EPS-12 web-site.
